Delhi in June is 43 degrees. Half of my summer brides have an outdoor baraat, outdoor pheras, or both. If I apply traditional foundation in those conditions and the look has to last eight hours, I am asking too much of the product.
Airbrush is what I default to for most summer bookings. Here is what actually changes and why.
Traditional foundation is water-based or oil-based. Both break down under heat faster than most people expect. Airbrush foundation is silicone-based. Silicone does not mix with sweat, does not transfer the same way, and does not oxidize under heat. The look stays closer to how it started.
I have had brides go through a full outdoor ceremony in July and still look good in photos taken at the reception that evening. That gap — morning makeup holding through a full summer day — is almost entirely about the formula.
This is actually the bigger factor in heat. Airbrush sprays foundation in a very fine layer. Coverage is buildable, but even at full coverage, it sits lighter on the skin than foundation applied by brush or sponge. In hot conditions, heavy product on the face is visibly uncomfortable and tends to look worse as the day goes on. Airbrush avoids that.
Dry or dehydrated skin, sometimes. Silicone-based foundation can settle differently on very dry skin and can pick up texture in a way that HD makeup with the right primer does not. I check the skin before I decide. If the skin is dry enough that airbrush would make things worse, I use HD formula with better skin prep instead. The decision is always about the skin in front of me, not a blanket rule.
Book a trial during summer conditions if you can. Come in the afternoon when your skin has already been through some heat. I will do one half of the face in airbrush and one half in HD foundation, and we will check which one looks better an hour in. That comparison does more than anything I could tell you about it in theory.
